New Range of Brazos Hiking Staves

It has been a busy few weeks at the Stick & Cane Shop as we gear up for the Winter season. We have some fantastic sticks from a variety of stick makers that are new in stock this season, but we thought we would focus on one brand new line in our blog this week.

We are happy to announce that we now sell a range of Hiking Staves from Brazos as part of our wider range of hand-crafted walking sticks. Brazos are a stick-making company based in Texas, US and their craftsmen produce a range of rugged and beautifully rustic hiking staves that we are sure are going to be a hit with our customers this year. In fact, just this morning we sold one to a local collector who was excited to see our new line of sticks!

Brazos Walking Sticks is a family operated stick making company and located in the beautiful Brazos River Valley of central Texas. They have been producing high-quality, handcrafted walking sticks and canes for the better part of two decades and most of their products are made in workshops located within a few miles of their facilities by skilled local craftsmen who are also their neighbours, family and friends. Their exquisite line of sticks and canes consists of over 600 variations in design ranging from sophisticated elegance to classic rustic. Every item is individually crafted from the finest woods including sassafras, hickory and sweet gum, resulting in a unique one-of-a-kind treasure.

At the Stick & Cane Shop we have three main types of Bravos Hiking Staves. The first is the Freeform Hiking Stave which comes in a variety of wood types and the stick maker really makes the wood speak for itself. The Freeform staves show the original branch off to beautiful effect, with the treatment limited to a bare minimum, allowing the natural grain and shape of the chosen wood to shine through. We have these in the following wood types: Diamond Willow, Hickory, Sassafras and Ironwood.

The second type of Bravos Hiking Stave is the Twisted variety. These canes are left with the bark on, except for a spiral line running down the shaft to expose the woodgrain underneath, providing an exquisite trusty and sturdy hiking stave that will last a lifetime. These would certainly make a particularly great gift for the menfolk in your life!

Finally we have the Hitchiker variety of Brazos sticks. These have been sculpted and sanded into a beautifully tactile stick that has a distinct shape making it comfortable to hold and to use on those long countryside walks. This variety is available in Hickory wood or a combination of Exotic woods (Ebony, Cocobolo, Maple, and Bocote)
