In our blog this week we have asked some of the team at
the Stick and Cane Shop for their favourite sticks and their reasons why. As you know, we have a vast selection of sticks and canes available on our site, so we can only cover so many of our stock on our blogs each week. However we thought it would be interesting to get an idea of the different canes our staff like, and feature them for you today. So why not check out these delightful choices, and let us know if you agree. If not, which canes are your favourites? Let us know in the comments section below.
Exclusive Bamboo Carved Arts & Crafts Beech Derby Walking Stick
Christine, director at the Stick & Cane Shop, has chosen the
Exclusive Bamboo Carved Arts & Crafts Beech Derby Walking Stick as her favourite cane for this week's blog. She has always been a big fan of the Arts & Crafts artistic movement, so loves that this is encapsulated so beautifully in this walking stick. In addition this is a very tactile stick and she loves the feel of it. It also has a beautifully rich and warm colour to the wood and it looks great in both dressy and casual occasions (e.g. it looks fabulous with a pair of jeans!)
This walking stick is an exclusive Beech Arts & Crafts derby handled walking stick, the shaft is wonderfully carved to resemble a stem of bamboo.
The dimensions of the walking stick are:
- Length is approx 93cm
- Weight is 250g
- The stick diameter is 22mm just below the handle tapering to 18mm at the ferrule end.

Amber Crutch Handled Walking Stick
The stylish
Amber Crutch Handled Walking Stick is a favourite of Fraser, who works at the Stick and Cane Shop fulfilling our customers' orders. He chose this stick as it reminded him of his first job in London making frames for spectacles. In addition he thinks it is an interesting cane, with a clean, simple and un-fussy design. The handle is great to hold and he likes the grain of the wood, which works in combination beautifully with the amber handle. Overall this is a stylish unisex acrylic amber crutch-handled walking stick with hardwood shaft and featuring a brass collar.
The dimensions of the walking stick are:
- Length is 92cm
- Weight is 310g

Aluminium Hiking Pole - Crutch Grip - Silver
Alan, who organises our social media and blogs at the Stick and Cane shop has chosen the
Silver Aluminium Crutch Grip Hiking Pole as his favourite stick for our blog this week. He bought one of these because he has always enjoyed hillwalking, but found that due to leg pain that he needed a bit more stability when climbing the hills. Although this is not intended as a long-term mobility aid, it does provide excellent stability, and has a shock-absorbing tip. Not only that, the overall style and colour of the cane is very modern and looks great, while being light to carry.
These hiking poles incorporate every desirable feature including shock-absorbing inserts with an on/off mechanism for climbing or descending, contour moulded handle with an adjustable wrist strap, carbide steel tip and removable rubber ferrule and basket. They extend to 135cm and collapse to 68cm for easy transport and storage. Reduces strain on the wrists arms and joints. Popular with both serious and and occasional walkers who demand a lightweight, performance stick.
The dimensions of the adjustable hiking pole are:
- Length is adjustable from 66cm to 132cm
- Weight is 320g
- The stick diameter is 18mm.
- It is fitted with a tungsten metal spike with removable rubber ferrule.
- Supplied with hiking grip, wrist strap, rubber ferrule and basket.
