About Staminawood

As supplies dwindle of the tropical hardwoods traditionally used for formal walking sticks, and it becomes increasingly difficult to obtain raw material harvested in an ecologically sound way, Classic Canes has decided that it will no longer offer its fine silver canes in ebony. Instead shafts made from Staminawood will be used.

Staminawood is a high quality, modern alternative to the tropical hardwoods, particularly ebony. The wood is subjected to high pressure and heat to produce a very strong material similar in density to ebony. The Staminawood is almost completely indistinguishable in colour, feel and weight to ebony, with the advantage that it is ecologically sound.
